JOHN FINNEY'S HEIRS

HOUSE HOLD 22

1. John Finney, son of William Finney and Elizabeth, his wife, and brother of William Finney, was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1748.  SEE HOUSEHOLD 19.  John died before 30 July 1782 (Nottingham).

He married Anne circa 1773 in Accomack Co., VA.  Anne was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1755.  She married second Samuel Outten circa 1783 in Accomack Co., VA.  Anne was the admistratrix of the estate of John Finney on 30 July 1782 in Accomack Co., VA (Nottingham).  The text reads: "FINNEY, JOHN - Letters of administration were granted on his estate to Anne Finney, Abram Outten & Charles Bagwell - John Custis, Zorobabel Rodgers & Michael Bonewell security."

Circa 1784 Samuel Outten and Anne his wife had William Outten.  Circa 1786 Samuel Outten and Anne his wife had Tabitha Outten.

Samuel was listed on the personal property Tax List for 1787 (Yantis-Schreiner 99).  The record reads: "Outten, Samuel, 5 Blacks above 16, 4 Blacks under 16, 4 horses, 11 cattle."

Samuel wrote his will on 21 January 1788.  It was proved 24 June 1788.  Anne was named as heir.  An abstract of his will reads: "OUTTEN, SAMUEL - 21 Jan. 1788 - 24 June 1788 - To son William Outten 200 £.  To daughter Tabitha Outten 100 £.  To wife Ann Outten. balance of estate during her widow & then to be sold & the money divided between my son William & daughter Tabitha Outten, & should they die before lawful age wife to have whole estate at her will.  Wife Anne & John R. Parker Exrs. W itt: Henry Parker, John Parker."

John Finney and Anne his wife had the following children:

2 i. John Finney was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1775.  He married Catherine Bowman no father on 2 September 1799 in Accomack Co., VA.   The record reads: "John Finney to Catherine Bowman 2 September 1799. William Seymour security."  Catherine was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1781.

On 26 September 1786 his orphan's account was recorded by his guardian Samuel Outten (Fiduciary Accounts).  The accounts read: "John Finney Orphan of John Finney Deceas'd to Samuel Outton Debit 1784  To Board & Clothing £09.00.0, 1785  To . . . . ditto . . . . . & Some schooling 81.03.8,  To Building a New House 20 by 171/2 well Finished Total 100.02.8  Credits By 2/3 of the Land for the years 1784 & 1785 Vallued by Jno R. Parker & Richard Parker £24.00.0, B 1/3 the Widows proportion building the House 27.00.10, Total £51.00.10.  The Negros were not divided before the Year 1786 of course it will go to the Credit of the Estate in the Audit & Settlement of the Estate & the Children Benefitted there.  S. Outton."

3 ii. Elizabeth "Betty" Finney was born in Accomack Co., VA, circa 1777.  On 26 September 1786 her orphan's account was recorded by her guardian Samuel Outten (Fiducary Accounts ).  The accounts read: "John Finney Orphan of John Finney Deceas'd to Samuel Outton Debit 1784 To Board & Clothing £09.00.0, 1785  To . . . . ditto . . . . . & Some schooling 81.03.8, To Building a New House 20 by 171/2 well Finished Total 100.02.8  Credits By 2/3 of the Land for the years 1784 & 1785 Vallued by Jno R.
