Since William Phillips had an heir John and his brother John had an heir William, it sometimes is difficult to identify them properly in the records. 1790 William Phillips gave the 140 acres to his son John.

To son William Phillip 50 acres that joins the land of Nathaniel Badger. To grandson Levin Phillips son of Levin Phillips, my Negro man George. Remainder to my wife Elizabeth, son Levin Phillips & daughter Molly Cobb. After wife's death or marriage her part to grandson William Phillips, son of Levin. 1. 22. John Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA on 24 June 1762. (Mihalyka, Graven, p. 216). John died on 8 October 1848 (216). 216 He married Nancy Edmunds on 19 August 1786 in Accomack Co., VA. Nancy was born in Accomack Co., VA on 29 December 1766 ( 217). Nancy died on 17 June 1791 (217)

2. Tabitha "Tabby" Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1768. Tabby died before 30 October 1837 (Miles & Miles Wills, p. 182). She married twice. She married Thomas Willett on 17 July 1786 in Accomack Co., VA (Turman, Marriages, p. 324). Thomas was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1763. Thomas died before 26 January 1795. On 26 January 1795 the estate of Thomas Willett (Nottingham Wills, p. 412). The text reads: WILLETT, THOMAS - Letters of Administration on his estate were granted to John Walker, Jr, - John Phillips security - 26 Jan. 1795

She married second 36. Severn East circa 1796 in Accomack Co., VA. Severn was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1749. Severn was the son of Southey East and his wife (Nottingham Wills, p. 428). Severn made a will on 3 July 1809 in Accomack Co., VA (Miles & Miles Wills, p. 182). It was probated 30 December 1811 (Miles & Miles Wills, p. 182).

3. Levin Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1770. He was married circa 1795. Her name is unknown. On 4 August 1812 Levin was named as heir in the will of his father William (Miles & Miles Wills, p. 426). On September 1812 Levin Phillips wrote his will (425). It was probated on 25 July 1814. An abstract of his will reads:

PHILLIPS, LEVIN - 8 September 1812 / 25 July 1814 - William Phillips Extr. & if he refuses, then John S. Walker. Negro man Benn to be hired out and the money given to Keziah Cobb & Richard Cobb & the remainder to Keziah Cobb & Richard Cobb. Witt: John S. Walker, Elizabeth East & James Rodgers. Probate: John Phillips and John S. Walker securities.

Levin and his wife had the following children: Levin (426) born circa 1797; William born circa 1800 (426); Richard born circa 1803 (424).

4. [12] William Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA on 13 May 1774 (Mihalyka, Graven, p 218). William died on 18 January 1854 (218). His stone reads: William Phillips son of William Phillips 13 May 1774, 18 January 1854 aged 78 years 8 months 5 days. He married Mary Savage (Belote Bible) circa 1805 in Accomack Co., VA. Mary was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1787. Mary was the daughter of George Savage and 76. Nanny Crippen Savage.

5. Elizabeth Phillips was born in Accomack County circa 1778. On 4 August Elizabeth was named as heir in the will of her father William (Miles & Miles, Wills, p. 426). She married a Bradford (426) circa 1798. She died before 15 March 1848 (424). On 15 Mach 1848 Elizabeth was mentioned as deceased in the will of her brother John (424). The text reads:

PHILLIPS, JOHN 15 March 1843 - 30 October 1848 - To my nephew John Phillips son of William the plantation whereon he now lives containing & the plantation whereon I now live on Andua Creek containing 179 acres & all my wood land lying on the N. W. side of the neck road of the lands known as the & purchased by Hutchinson Kellam & ... but if he leaves no lawful heirs, then to my nephew Levin Phillips of William. To Levin Phillips son of William, my plantation whereon he now lives containing 90 acres my land purchased of David Bowman ... near Hickory Hill ... to the land of my brother William Phillips containing 20 acres & ... To my brother William Phillips the residue of the land I bought of David Bowman & Shields containing 130 acres. to nephews John and Levin Phillips 12 acres of my swamp land called Piney Swamp on the side adjoining the land of Edmund Nock. to my nephew James Cobb the residue of my Piney Swamp land containing 68 acres. My slaves George, Scipio, Robert, William, James, Margaret, Winey, Rachel Lousia, Pheby & Betty & the future increase of all the females shall be free immediately after by death & each one is to recieve $25 & them to jointly all my lands Land lying to the eastward of the neck road for their home forever, which is to be used by them in common. To Richard Phillips, son of Levin $100. To John Edwards, son of Laban $50. To Jacob Jester $50. Since I have given my nephew John Phillips such a large part of my real estate, I hereby bind him & the lands given to him with the maintenance of any of my slaves should they become disabled ... The residue to my brother William Phillips & the children of my dec'd sisters Tabitha East, Elizabeth Bradford, Susan Edwards & Mary Cobb, 1/5 part each. My estate shall furnish grave stones for me. My friend William P. Moore Sr. Extr. Witt: William P. Moore Jr., John t. R. Joynes, Edward O. Finney & O. Logan. Codicil: 19 November 1846 - the lands given to my brother William Phillips I only loan him during his life & at his death to his present wife Molly Phillips & at her death to my nephew Levin Phillips. The residue to my nephew Levin Phillips of William & to my two nieces Hetty Bradford & Susan Phillips daughter of William, Witt: Thomas Hall Kellam, John M. Parker & Benjamin D. Wise. Probate: John Arlington & Nathaniel Topping securities.

She had two daughters, Nancy and Hester (Miles & Miles, Wills, p. 424).

6. Susannah Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1784. She married Laban Edwards circa 1805. On 15 March 1843 Laban Edwards is mentioned in the will of John Phillips (Miles & Miles, Wills, p. 424). Susanna and Laban Edwards had the following children: Susan born circa 1804 (Turman, Marriages, p. 142); Elizabeth born 1807 (141); John circa 1810 (Miles & Miles, Wills, p. 424).

7. Mary "Molly" Phillips was born in Accomack Co., VA circa 1788. She married William Cobb on 15 April 1807 (TurmanMarriages., p. 61). William was born circa 1782. Mary was named as heir in the will of her father William (Miles & Miles, Wills, p. 426). She was mentioned as deceased in the will of her brother John (424). Mary and William Cobb had the following child: James (424) born circa 1810.
